About this project

If there is one place in The Hague that has changed dramatically in recent years, it is the port of Scheveningen. Numerous new homes have been added to this part of The Hague, including the complex "De Reder" on the Dr. Lelykade. For a top apartment in this complex we were asked to design a modern light roof structure that offers the ultimate port experience and also expands and supplements the current home in terms of facilities. We designed a simple, modern, airy roof structure with plenty of space. Large to accommodate a home office, sitting room and gym with an attached bathroom. To connect this space with the outside and with the eye-catcher of the entire house; port, large sliding doors have been chosen that provide access through this space to the adjacent terrace, which gives a feeling of openness and freedom. gives. The carefully selected materials for the modern roof construction refer on the one hand to the post-industrial character of the port and on the other to the temporary beach tents on the nearby beach.
