About This Project

Strijp is a newly-built sustainable multi use sportscomplex used by several sports clubs. The form has been created by horizontal strips with rounded corners immersed in green hills. It has an inviting character and has a clear relationship with outdoor sports. To give each of the users their own identity, the various strips have been based on the colours of the corresponding sports clubs. By partially pushing the volume into grass covered hills, the building received a human scale and an excellent isolation. This design has also set a standard in terms of sustainability for sports facilities. The sustainable multi use sportscomplex achieved a GPR score above 8 through a package of measures and facilities: geothermal heat pump (GSHP), high efficiency++ glazing and the re-use (C2C) of existing materials from the former building for the green gable walls and pavements.
