About This Project

By releasing municipal land for particular development, the municipality gives prospecting inhabitants the opportunity to build their own homes inside the inner city barriers.
SKA18 is an example design for a plot in one of these developments. It is a small house designed for terraced plots with an extraordinary feature in the form of a mini interior courtyard. The inner garden on the ground floor, an open space on the first floor and a glass landing on the second floor with an overhead skylight ensure a pleasant light through the entire house. The living floor is accentuated by a special staircase construction. The facade can be both closed and open. Moving slats enable to close the house off for privacy or to shade from the sun. When open, in the evening, a beautiful play between light and shadow is created which gives the house its special character.
