IKC BuitenRijk is a mixed-use educational building in Rijswijk. It consists of a childcare center with a primary school, a daycare center (0-4 yrs), a pre-school playgroup and an after-school care. On the second floor is located a gymnasium that can be used by both, the school and third parties. On the ground floor, welfare space for the municipality is provided. The challenge of this project was to design a mixed-use educational building in which all these groups of users could feel at home irrespectively of their age and occupation. That is why every function has been given its own place within the center, with its own entrance and its own recognisable character. Architect: LIAG Architecten.
